I don’t know about you, but the ‘bump’ pictures I’ve collected throughout my two pregnancies have been iPhone shots of a tired looking Mama in various states of undress, looking slightly horrified at the size of my growing bottom. I certainly didn’t have any ‘insta’ worthy pictures, or pictures I could look proudly back on at what a flipping amazing job our bodies do in growing a small human!
So when our good friend and resident Cotswold Baby Co photographer, Joanna Osborne offered the chance of a maternity photoshoot, I jumped at the chance! What’s more, Cotswold Make-Up Artist (to the stars!) Kate Kelvin had also offered to do my hair and make-up. This was an opportunity not to be missed!
On a rainy Sunday morning at 34 weeks pregnant, I found myself in Jo’s home studio in Wiltshire, cup of tea in hand, being thoroughly spoiled while Kate worked her magic. I asked for a ‘natural’ look and she worked wonders to give me that lovely pregnant glow I’d been seeking for the previous 8 months. She also curled my hair and in no time at all, I was photoshoot ready!
So with make-up and hair done, I stepped into Jo’s studio feeling pretty glamorous! Jo is such a professional that I felt entirely at ease while she clicked away, using various dresses from her collection to show off my baby bump.
My favourite shots however were the shots which used a lovely dusky-pink silk material, which co-ordinated really well with Jo’s professional backdrop. It’s not a set-up I would have chosen prior to the shoot, but I am so pleased with the result! What’s more, when Jo turned her wind-machine on to get the right effect, I honestly felt like Beyonce … maybe with a teeny bit of Bridget thrown in for good measure!
The end result was a collection of pictures that made me feel beautiful, and so proud of my growing curves. They are something I will treasure and keep forever, and look back on when I’m a proper oldie with awe that our bodies are able to do such amazing things!
I’d highly recommend using Kate for any special event where you want that extra bit of confidence – she certainly worked wonders on me! Kate’s contact information can be found here, and with prices starting at just £35 it’s well worth it!
And if you’re not sure about doing a maternity photo-shoot – definitely do it, you won’t regret it! If you’re local to the Cotswolds then Jo comes with a 5* recommendation – her professionalism and skill in capturing beautiful moments is second to none and we will definitely be back for a newborn photoshoot when our littlest cub arrives!
Photo-shoot and hair & make-up were gifted. However opinions and model’s curves are entirely my own 😉
